ENTRETEJIENDO HISTORIAS

Entretejiendo historias (Interlacing Stories) is a project aimed at capturing the rich tapestry of memories held by Oaxacan artisans, meticulously woven by their own hands.

Each piece in this collection is born from intimate audio recordings where artisans generously share their personal stories and experiences.

The sculptures depict three important parts of the artisans' daily lives, the first and smallest depicts the way their lives unfold through commercial exchange with their crafts. The second sculpture describes the process of weaving from the collection of the mein material to the final creation, while the third narrates the story of how they learned the process and continue to pass on this knowledge from generation to generation.

Each sculpture illustrates the artisan's journey.

Furthermore, these artworks pay homage to the enduring legacy of Oaxacan craftsmanship, highlighting the seamless fusion of traditional artistry with generative design. By seamlessly blending parametric design techniques, utilizing tools like Rhinoceros 3D and Grasshopper, with the timeless craft of palm weaving, creating a unique synergy of innovation and tradition.

"Interweaving Narratives" was showcased with great acclaim during Design Week Mexico, housed within the "INEDITO" space, where it received a honourable mention by the jury, captivated with its captivating blend of heritage and modernity.
